37th Street Residence
Elegant Revival of a 1928 Federal Townhome
Located in the historic Burleith neighborhood of Washington, DC, this project is a full-gut renovation of a 1928 federal-style rowhouse. The architectural intervention reimagines the existing structure with a light-filled, open-plan layout while preserving key historic textures such as exposed brick walls. A restrained palette of natural oak, matte black finishes, and soft whites enhances spatial clarity and material continuity throughout. The reconfigured main floor integrates living, kitchen, and dining functions anchored by a central island and punctuated with custom millwork, pendant lighting, and floor-to-ceiling Marvin windows. A new steel-accented porch and black-framed façade modernize the exterior expression. The result is a refined, transitional residence that merges urban heritage with contemporary livability.
