Highland Residence

Washington, DC

From Brick Colonial to Modern Urban Home

Originally built in 1933, the Highland Residence has undergone a striking transformation from a traditional red-brick colonial into a refined, modern single-family home in the Takoma neighborhood of Northwest Washington, DC. The full renovation reimagines the exterior with painted brick, black window casings, and a warm wood entry door, creating a bold yet elegant curb appeal. Inside, over 2,300 square feet of open-plan living space feature clean lines, hardwood floors, and abundant natural light. The reconfigured kitchen boasts quartz countertops, custom cabinetry, and contemporary fixtures. A custom-built mudroom, upgraded rear entry, and beautifully landscaped backyard add comfort and functionality. This residence now reflects a fresh, urban aesthetic while honoring its historic roots.
